Resurrection! That sounds impossible, but not for God! If he can create the human body he can resurrect the human body. Those who have died, were lost at sea, or cremated can be restored and raised up to immortality. In today's passage, Paul goes into a discussion about the amazing characteristics of the resurrection body!
Some of the Corinthians maintained the false belief that there would be no resurrection! That belief system has dire consequences for the way one lives their life. If there is nothing beyond the grave, why bother living the way the Lord instructs us to live. Paul speaks against this mentality and explains that the resurrection provides believers with incentive to live in a way that glorifies God.
Scripture teaches that the evil age in which we live is coming to an end. A key piece of the puzzle in ushering in the eternal state of perfection is the resurrection. If there is no resurrection, God's plan of redeeming mankind will never come to pass. This age will never come to an end! This morning we will see the connection between the resurrection and the glorious new world God has for us.
Paul has given us the most extensive treatment of the resurrection in the Bible. He has listed some of the eyewitnesses to the risen Christ, one of which was himself. This morning we will look at how Paul met Jesus and experienced a complete reversal in his life.
The Corinthian believers were having a problem understanding the resurrection. Some were questioning whether or not Christ rose from the dead, as well as the feasibility of their own future resurrection. Paul had to set things straight for them by explaining the great and glorious facts of the resurrection of Christ, and all its accompanying implications for believers.
