American History & The Bible

When a nation loses sight of their past, they don’t know who they are in the present, and consequently, they don’t know where they are going in the future.  I believe this is the sad state of affairs that exists in the United States.  We are a people who has lost sight of our rich spiritual and national heritage, and don’t really understand the events that led to the founding of this nation.  Revisionist historians have been presenting a warped view of our nation’s history, by portraying an inaccurate perspective of the role faith played in the founding of this nation.

In my teaching series “American History and the Bible”, I’ll be examining the monumental role that the Christian faith played in the founding of our nation.  It is my desire that Americans’ rediscover their rich spiritual heritage and can sort through all the misconceptions about our history that are commonly taught today.

In this series some of the questions I’ll answer are:

• What does it mean to be a Christian nation?
• What Biblical principles were utilized in the founding documents of our country?
• What was the original intention of the separation of church and state?
• What was the faith of the founding fathers like?
• What is the role of faith and government?

These are just a few of the topics I’ll be covering in the hope that it will lead us to a better understanding what it means to be an American.  This series begins February 27, 2011.
